YouTube Launches Local Sites in Select Nordic Countries

YouTube is already popular in other Nordic countries as well, ranking as the third and fourth most visited website in Denmark and Finland respectively, according to June data from iProspect Nordic. Research by TNS Gallup Norway also in June showed that 12% of internet users in Norway visited the site daily. Among 15- to 29-year-olds, the figure rose to 18%.

The expansion is expected to bring new opportunities for both YouTube users and advertisers. Users will see content that is more relevant to them, as videos that are especially popular in Denmark, Finland and Norway will be featured on the respective local sites. And local advertisers will now be able to purchase and run banner, text and video ads directed specifically toward visitors in those three countries.
